The sacrament of Reconciliation forgives the sins of the baptized person committed after Baptism. It reconciles us with the Church. Christ instituted the sacrament of Reconciliation on Easter Sunday evening when he breathed on the Apostles and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.” (John 20:22-23)

• Must have been already baptized.

• Must be in at least the 2nd grade at the time of reception of the sacrament.

• Must have completed 2 years of catechetical instruction at this parish or at another parish.

• Understanding the difference between serious and less serious offenses are crucial concepts for the reception of this sacrament.

• The primary decision for the readiness of a child rests with the parents.

• Must have turned in a copy of the child’s Baptismal Certificate.
